MCA Awards winner 2025 - SiG

The story behind SiG’s MCA Award for Change and Transformation

At the MCA Awards 2025, Sharing in Growth (SiG) won the award for Change and Transformation in the Private Sector for delivering meaningful, measurable and sustainable transformation in aerospace manufacturing.
The award recognised SiG’s ability to help private sector organisations re-imagine service models, strengthen operational performance and embed long-lasting cultural change.

In a manufacturing landscape marked by rising expectations, tighter budgets and the pressure to do more with less, SiG stood out for its people-centred approach, its focus on mindset and capability, and its commitment to making improvement part of everyday practice.

This achievement reflects the collective effort of the SiG team, our manufacturing clients and our wider partners, and demonstrates how a collaborative, disciplined and culturally driven approach can help even the most complex organisations evolve and thrive.

A respected stockholding and manufacturing company in Sheffield had big ambitions to expand in the aerospace sector, using its precision machining expertise as a springboard for growth.

However, the path forward was steeped with challenges. Internal processes were inefficient, the workforce was hungry for new skills, and leadership lacked a defined roadmap for success. The COVID-19 pandemic added further disruption, amplifying the need for decisive transformation.

With a burning desire to grow but no structured strategy in place, the company brought in SiG to stabilise operations, strengthen capability and shape a future-fit organisation.

In 2021, the company partnered with SiG to undertake a full-scale transformation. SiG’s approach began with aligning leadership behind a clear vision and establishing a high-performance culture across the organisation. Embedded expert coaches worked closely with teams to build accountability, shift from reactive to proactive decision-making, and introduce structured strategic planning.

Operational Lighthouses were implemented to showcase best practices and performance benchmarks, while data-driven forecasting became a priority.
Sales and Operations Planning was overhauled with a structured, cross-functional framework that replaced siloed processes. A rolling 12-month demand plan was put together to support smarter scheduling and resource allocation, meaning the business could anticipate customer needs more effectively.

SiG also introduced the Team Leader Academy, equipping first-line operational leaders with the skills to lead confidently, solve problems and embed continuous improvement. One-to-one coaching was applied to strengthen these behaviours and help drive cultural change throughout the workforce.

The transformation delivered results that exceeded expectations.

  • Profit increased by 7,700%
  • Turnover rose from £15.6 million to £27.4 million
  • The forward order book grew from £5.4 million to £19.1 million
  • Aerospace revenue increased from 7.5% to 20.8%
  • Machining grew from 35% to 49% of total business
  • Right-first-time manufacturing reached an impressive 99%

The Lighthouses became centres of excellence within production, increasing employee engagement to 84% and improving performance benchmarks. Data-driven forecasting improved inventory control, cutting stockholding by £1.5 million and boosting cash flow by £400,000.

This outstanding performance was recognised nationally when Sharing in Growth won the MCA Award, one of the consulting industry’s highest honours. The award celebrated SiG’s exceptional impact in driving cultural, operational and financial transformation for the client.

Employees and leadership alike praised the shift in capability, confidence and collaboration. This transformation stands as a powerful example of how cultural change, operational discipline and strategic clarity can redefine a company’s future and secure long-term success in a demanding industry.
