OUR APPROACH TO leadership development

The Sharing in Growth approach to leadership development includes an initial diagnostic phase, understanding the ambition you have for your business and the culture you need to achieve this. Through structured workshop activity, Sharing in Growth supports you in this definition and works with you to develop the “Leadership Framework” that will deliver the bespoke development programme for your leadership through a combination of “off the job” structured training and “on the job” coaching. The Sharing in Growth leadership development service provides a bespoke programme based on the needs of your business and team.

As well as developing your business leadership team, our Team Leader Academy offers you the opportunity to build the capability of your value stream leaders. Over a 6-month period, our Team Leader Academy will coach, train, and mentor your value stream leaders both on and off the job, aligning their leadership skills with the evolving culture of the business and ensuring consistency with your vision, mission and values.

PP CONTROL AND AUTOMATION REAP REWARDS FROM LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT TRAINING

PP Control & Automation has grown to be an award-winning provider of strategic outsourcing solutions to many of the most successful and respected machinery builders worldwide. However, they recognised that key changes were needed to develop their people and culture in order to achieve their growth aspirations.

Since partnering with Sharing in Growth, PP Control & Automation (PP C&A) have focused on three key areas of improvement: leadership, processes, and people. Improved processes, particularly across different production cells and operational departments, has had a positive effect on people performance and engagement, but the collaboration with SiG has also directly impacted how people benefit from training, development, and continuous improvement.

In order to provide their people with the leadership skills needed to create a more transformative culture, PP C&A enrolled two of their team leaders on the Sharing in Growth Team Leader Academy. The academy training has directly impacted the employee engagement through team leader led initiatives such as SQDCP boards, daily management systems, and reward schemes.
Although the improvements seen by PP C&A have already been momentous, the journey has just started and preparation for the next improvement phase is in planning with further changes to both hard (performance) and soft (cultural) business drivers.

“Sharing in Growth has been the catalyst for taking our business to the next level – their industry knowledge and practical ‘hands on’ approach to business improvement was an ideal cultural fit. We have already seen benefits on both hard and soft measures, and fully expect to see continued benefits across the business that will support our improvement and growth aspirations.”

COMMUNICATION PROVES KEY FOR WALKER’S EMPLOYEE ENGAGEMENT

Walker Precision Engineering (WPE) identified a need to improve company communications with information being cascaded to all employees but infrequently, with content and quality of the communications being varied. The first employee engagement survey scored negative or neutral on 9 out of the 12 questions, many of which are affected either directly or indirectly by company communication.

In order to overcome this issue and improve the standard of leadership and development, Sharing in Growth supported WPE with a series of improvement activities. Overall, they needed to create a simple-to-understand visual, communication structure to enable all employees to feel engaged and able to contribute to the vision of the company.
This was achieved by considering how best to visualise key strategy information in the business, developing a visual plan that communicates the short, medium, and long-term goals of the business, and definition of an annual plan for regular communications. Once a communications plan had been identified and agreed, a ‘kick-off’ communication led by top management was conducted.

This project highlighted for WPE the importance of clear communication to each person involved in the process, so they can fully understand the expectation of their role. It has also proved how easy this can be if there is a clear framework in place for proactive preparation with process owners, for the next improvement phase is in planning with further changes to both hard (performance) and soft (cultural) business drivers.

“The bi-monthly communication has helped to align the workforce in understanding the strategy and common goals of the business, eliminating misconceptions and helping to improve overall employee engagement.”
